I am trying to get the cleaning tape to move from its dedicated slot to a tape drive.

I can move tapes within the libray using DeviceIOcontrol with the CHANGER_MOVE_MEDIUM structure. Tape slots and drives are accessed via their logical device numbers 1 to 44 for slots and 1 -3 for drives, The library has a dedicated cleaner slot at a slot between logical addresses 9 and 10. It is labelled in the IBM docs as DCS ( dedicated cleaning slot ). Tried SCSI MOVE_MEDIUM via SCSI_PASS_THROUGH_DIRECT using the true address of &h1008 but all I get is the 1306 bogus error. Anyone know how to get at this tape ?

Feb 27, 2018  The IBM TS3100 and TS3200 are the Dell Powervault TL2000 and TL4000. They are great libraries as long as they weren't shipped with the picker unlocked or tapes in the magazines. One is a dedicated cleaning slot (but you can delete that using the library menus and use it as a regular cartridge lot - but then you have to feed it a cleaning.
