Part of the reason I think they gave us all TS2 was so we could get used to the idea of having loading screens and limited tools in TS4...but that's just a hunch.
What I really want is all the store content bundled up for free. Maybe far far away in the future but not any time soon. They are counting on people to spend money on Sims 3, if they are not interested in buying Sims4 yet. - EA released a code to download the Sims 2 and all of it's expansion packs for free, a while ago; do you think they'll do something similar for the Sims 3?<br />

- I doubt it will be made free. I think Simmers will continue to play Sims 3 for far longer after the release of 4 than they played Sims 2 after the release of 3.

Hit the Like Button - and let me know you liked my story. - I wonder why they gave us Ultimate. I'm glad they did, but I really don't think it mattered that much in helping the sales of sims4. I'd rather play sims2 with all the eps than the sims4 base game. - Nope. They make too much money from the Store DLC and EP's to ever give it away for free. There's still many people who will stick with TS3 despite TS4 being released and they can still capitalise on these people with store items and such.
- If it happens...it will be 5 years from now, so, they won't still be making money off of the store and sims3. They had stopped selling sims2 for at least 3 years before they did the ult. It is so out of EA's character to do some like give sims2+all the bases away for free that if you told me that they were going to do this 6 months ago I'd of thought you crazy. The ult doesn't have the store items in it, so, I doubt the sims3 ult (if there ever is such a thing) will have them. What I'd like to see is EA put all the store stuff on a disk or even 2 or 3 disks and let us buy them for 10 to 20 dollars so that we can just add them easily to our game and they work better.Post your family trees here!

Sims 3 base game: free
each expansion pack: upto 10 USD and ONLY be available to buy in-game - I doubt they'll have TS3 for free. It's a pretty slim chance. They never had TS1 for free. I think they only did TS2 for free was because they were about to pull it off the shelves, so it was a last chance kind of thing. :/

I mentioned on the old forums that it did seem like a slight marketing ploy - They did it for s2 because they were no longer offering support for the 'old' one.1

I too missed the offer as I was on holiday and I was pretty disappointed as, like others, some of my disks are lost/broken and what not and I would have loved it. I think for Sims 3 to be free we may have to wait for TS6! So many people (myself included) are sticking with Sims 3. If EA are still making money on it then it will stay.

I was able to talk to someone at EA and explain and got the sims 2 ultimate...not sure if it would work now, but you could try! - x_x it makes me wish I was aware of the sims 2 ultimate collection for free. I just checked and it's over, can't get it for free anymore.
